PAN card is an important government document issue by the Income Tax Department. As PAN card is helpful while paying your taxes, filing for tax returns, or applying for a loan. PAN card is how banks validate your tax records with keeping track of your individual contribution to the Indian economy.

As you can always visit a PAN Centre near you to apply for it, it is not always possible to do so.

Most employers require you to submit a copy of your PAN Card during the initial onboarding process.

How To Apply For a PAN Card Online via Income Tax Portal?

Follow These Steps:

1. Visit the Income Tax website.
2. Tap on the Instant E-PAN button appearing in the Quick Links menu on the left side of the screen or click here.
3. Then click on the Get New e-PAN button.
4. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number in the field.
5. Provide require confirmations by clicking on the checkbox.
6. Tap Continue.
7. Again, provide consent to get an OTP on your registered phone number.
8. Enter OTP.
9. Check your personal information, which would have self-populated.
10. If everything is correct, tap Continue.
11. A confirmation message will be sent to your register phone with the acknowledgement number.
12. In a few minutes, your e-PAN Card will be generated, which can be access by entering the acknowledgement number on the Income Tax website.

How To Apply For a PAN Card Online via Protean Website?

Follow These Steps:

1. Visit the Protean website.
2. Go to New Application.
3. From the “Select PAN Application Type” drop-down menu, select ”New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)” and “Individual” under the “Select Applicant Category”.
4. Then, scroll down and fill out the required details under the “Applicant Information” tab.
5. Complete the reCaptcha challenge.
6. Tap on the Submit button.
7. A new window will open where you’ll have to choose the method of filing the application.
8. You can also choose to get a physical copy of the PAN Card at this stage by paying a fee.
9. Enter your Aadhaar number.
10. You’ll receive an OTP on the register phone number.
11. Enter the OTP.
12. Click Submit.
13. A payment link will be generated.
14. After making the payment, you’ll receive the acknowledgement number, which can then be use for downloading a digital copy of your PAN Card.

How To Apply For a PAN Card Online Using UTITSL Website?

Follow These Steps:

1. Visit the UTITSL website.
2. Click on Apply under the “PAN Card for Indian Citizen/NRI” section.
3. Tap on Apply for New PAN Card (Form 49A) on the left side of the screen.
4. Select Digital Mode.
5. Click on Aadhaar based e-KYC option.
6. Select Individual from the “Status of the Applicant” drop-down menu.
7. Then, choose whether you wish to get a physical copy of your PAN Card or not.
8. A reference number will be provided.
   Please note it down in case you decide to revisit the application in the future.
9. Fill in your personal details in the respective fields.
10. Make the payment if you chose to get a physical copy of your PAN Card.
11. Click on Submit.
12. An acknowledgement number will be generated.
13. Use the same to download your e-PAN Card.
