Recently Paytm has adds a new feature that allows users to create a personalise Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ID. But now the same feature is rolling out to Google Pay and other UPI platforms.
The custom ID feature is consider a privacy-focus addition that allows users to hide their phone number or email ID while making transactions.
What is Personalised UPI IDs?
As per report, Google Pay is following the Paytm to offer personalise UPI IDs to users.
As Paytm introduce this new feature, highlighting that using a custom ID helps protect users’ privacy and creates a unique digital identity.
Paytm also call it safer, as it helps avoid instances of harassment and stalking.
This feature only support Yes Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and SBI.
When a user changes their ID on Paytm, the phone number or the email is replace with the custom alphanumeric text followed by “@pt(bank name).
The new privacy feature comes at a time when the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increase the transaction value limit for peer-to-peer and peer-to-merchant transactions made via UPI.
How to Use a Personalised UPI ID on Paytm?
Follow These Steps :
- Open the Paytm app.
- Tap on the Profile icon locate at the top left corner.
- Go to UPI & Payment Settings.
- Tap on the “View” option next to the UPI ID.
- Tap on the text box above the “Try Personalised UPI ID” text.
- A bottom sheet opens up where you can either type your desired ID or choose one from the suggested options.
- Tap on Confirm.
- Now You have successfully change your UPI ID.
How to Use a Personalised UPI ID on Google Pay?
For Google Pay, the process to reach the page is straightforward.
- Go to the profile tab.
- Select Bank account.
- Tap on your primary bank.
- Tap on Manage UPI IDs.
